Making his 2011 debut, Stonebridge On Ice took control at the half-mile mark and went on to pull off a 10-1 upset in the $34,000 Preferred Pace featured at Woodbine Racetrack on Saturday night

Longshot Alexie Mattosi (Paul MacDonell) fired to command from the outside Post 7 ahead of Stonebridge On Ice and driver Mike Saftic before a parked out Get Out Of Dodge (Phil Hudon) rushed up to take over past the :27-second opening mark.
As the field raced down the backstretch, Saftic made his move sending Stonebridge On Ice after the leader. The son of Camluck-Glacier Express took control as they moved by the half in :55.2 and then proceeded to three-quarters in 1:23.3. He finished them off with a :28.1 final frame, stopping the clock in 1:51.4. Get Out Of Dodge, the 2-1 favourite, finished three-quarters of a length behind in second while Mr Saratoga (Keith Oliver) came flying home from the backfield on the far outside to get up for third.
Stonebridge On Ice returned $22.90 for the victory, which was his 17th in 67 career starts. The seven-year-old gelding, who has earned $335,080 lifetime, is owned by Saftic, trainer Gregg McNair and Leonard Gamble of Etobicoke, Ont.
