The ownership group of 2024 Ontario Sires Stakes Super Final winner Paquet have announced that the son of Muscle Mass will be standing stud for the 2026 breeding season. He will be standing in Ontario.
Unraced at two, Paquet (1:52.1s; $410,182) burst onto the scene in his three-year-old year, breaking his maiden at Woodbine Mohawk Park in his first lifetime start with an impressive 10-1/4-length triumph. His next start produced a convincing Ontario Sires Stakes (OSS) Gold victory at Grand River Raceway, in 1:54, before he finished a close third to O'Brien Award winner Highland Kismet in the $164,000 Simcoe Stakes, where he trotted his own mile in 1:52.2, in just his third lifetime start.
When discussing the trotter's strengths, his regular driver, Jody Jamieson, told Trot Insider that, "Raw speed and the ability to carry it are rare qualities in horses, but Paquet had both in quantity."
After easily capturing the $300,000 OSS Super Final for three-year-old trotting colts in October 2024 by 4-1/4 lengths, the son of Muscle Mass-Darjeeling closed out his sophomore season with a third-place finish to O'Brien Award winner T C I in the Carl Erskine at Hoosier Park. He then returned at four to sweep both legs and the $81,500 final of the Canadian Graduate Stakes, taking his lifetime mark of 1:52.1 in the process.
Described by his connections as "a big, good-feeling, intelligent animal," Paquet unfortunately slipped on some poor footing in his paddock in the spring of his three-year-old season and injured his high suspensory ligament -- an injury that he battled for most of his career when it came to keeping him at 100 per cent.
In just 11 lifetime starts, Paquet amassed a career stat line of 7-1-2, never missed a purse cheque and only missed the board once while finishing fifth to millionaire Amazing Catch in the $713,000 Canadian Trotting Classic. He averaged $37,289 per start while competing in stakes events in all but one start.
The sixth richest stud colt by the great Muscle Mass -- even though he only raced 11 times -- Paquet's second dam is a Grand Circuit stakes winning half-sister to Hambletonian Oaks and Breeders Crown winner Oolong ($744,086).
Paquet will be collected at Winbak Farm. Interested breeders should contact Jody Jamieson at 226-808-2100 or [email protected]. The 2026 stud fee is by private treaty.
