UF Bettors Hanover closed off cover and beat out Senior Market in a close finish during Sunday night's featured finale, the $8,500 Preferred 3 Pace, at Flamboro Downs.
Scott Young worked out the winning trip aboard the eight-year-old Bettors Delight gelding, who hit the wire in 1:57.3 for trainer/owner Scott West of Rockwood, Ont.
Senior Market shot through the passing lane to finish half a length behind the winner with HP Patriote, Credit Risk and Cinnabar Dragon rounding out the top five finish order.
UF Bettors Hanover paid $6.40 to win as the 2-1 second choice to Cinnabar Dragon, who had led the field through fractions of :28.3, :58.3 and 1:27.1 with HP Patriote challenging first-up.
UF Bettors Hanover made his season's debut a winning one while notching his 20th career victory and pushing his bankroll to $214,930. In 2017, he won five times and hit the board on 10 other occasions to earn $47,405 from 46 starts.
After earning four wins on Friday night at The Raceway at Western Fair District, trainer Patrick Shepherd sent out another winning quartet on Sunday night's 10-race card at Flamboro Downs. Canada's 2017 win leader Bob McClure drove N Expense ($2.50), Charmbo Orbit ($4.60), Macktwowilldew ($3.60) and Now What Hanover ($2.80) for the Shepherd stable.
