Stall applications for the 2023 live harness racing season at Buffalo Raceway are now available to horsepeople through various sources.
Barns at the updated facility feature spacious 12x12 matted stalls, indoor wash stalls, heated tack rooms and a half-mile track groomed daily.
Applications can be obtained at the redesigned website under "Forms," by contacting Race Secretary Tom Agosti at 716-649-1280 ext. 6234, or picked up at the Western New York Harness Horsemen’s Association office located at Batavia Downs. Applications are due by Feb. 1.
Racing will start Saturday, March 4 and will take place at 6 p.m. on Wednesday and Saturday evenings in March. Beginning in April, Friday will be added and post time will move to 2:30 p.m. all three days through July 22. The full schedule can be found on the website.
"Average daily purses will exceed $100,000, with the Open class racing for $17,500," noted Agosti. "Depending on the horse population at the start of the meet, we are looking at the possibility of writing some Western New York preferred races."
