Steve Skene, who last raced in 2002, is scheduled to be honoured in his hometown of Kingston, Ont.
According to an article by The Kingston Whig Standard, Skene is one of five individuals that will be inducted to the Kingston and District Sports Hall of Fame in 2010.
Skene, 59, will be inducted along with hockey player Charlie Convery, stock car driver Walter Pennock and Leon Doucet (high school sports) as a builder. Sailing's Russell 'Bud' Gormley will be a posthumous inductee.
The 15th induction ceremony will be held on April 30 at the Ambassador Conference Resort.
Skene is only the second Kingston driver with over 1,000 wins at the Kingston and Quinte racetracks.
Skene joins the first 1,000-drive winner, the late Ted Huntbach, and the late Guy Larush in the Kingston Hall.
Skene has been the starter at Kawartha Downs for the last eight years.
