Taking the front early, odds-on choice Southwind Jaden led every step to win the $10,800 Open Pace at Fraser Downs on Sunday (Jan. 5).

Parked past a :27.2 first quarter, trainer-driver Brandon Campbell cleared Southwind Jaden to the lead passing the stands and endured little challenge. Leading through middle splits of :56.2 and 1:25.1, Southwind Jaden spun into the stretch chased by Buddys Hope, who narrowed on the leader heading to the wire but finished second by three-quarter lengths in a 1:54 mile. Pocket-sitter Proberts Legacy took third.

A seven-year-old gelding by Bettors Delight, Southwind Jaden won his 29th race from 119 starts, earning $174,886. Peter Chanak and Dana Shore own the $2.30 winner.
