NFL Omen? Andrew Luck Wins

Those who believe in omens might wish to side with the Indianapolis Colts in their NFL playoff game Sunday against the Baltimore Ravens. Why? Andrew Luck, a three-year-old gelding pacer and namesake of the Colts’ outstanding rookie quarterback, won the second race of his career Friday at The Meadows Racetrack & Casino.

The equine Andrew Luck had been down on his luck; following three consecutive poor performances at Indiana Downs last summer, he was sent to the bench to rest and figure things out. After getting tight in three qualifiers before his season debut Friday, he powered to the lead despite being parked out the entire first quarter and prevailed by a neck for Brett Miller in 1:57.2. The son of Always A Virgin and Kisskissbangbang, who now boasts two victories in six career outings, was sent off the 8-5 second pick. Del S. Miller trains Andrew Luck for Lightning Lane Stable.

The Ravens are favoured by about a touchdown in Sunday’s contest in Baltimore.
