Wins have been tough to come by in recent months for Mustang Art, but that wasn’t the case on Monday evening at Dover Downs for the veteran pacer.

Mustang Art kicked off cover for Brett Miller and pulled off a 33-1 upset in the $28,500 Delaware Special.

Miller got away fourth with the James Mc Guire pupil while Feel Like A Fool and then Bad Bay Matt took turns on the leads through fractions of :26.2, :54 and 1:22.3. Sparky Mark came first-over at the half and that provided a second-over tow for Mustang Art. Miller swung his charge off the cover in the late stages of the contest and used a :28.1 closing panel to win by three-quarters of a length over race favourite Captive Audience in 1:51. Bad Boy Matt took home the show dough in the nine-horse affair.

It was the first win since June 24, 2015 for Mustang Art, who is owned by Delaware partners Max Walton of Newark and Gregory Papaleo of Rehoboth Beach. The 40-time winner has banked more than $668,000 in his career.
