Kayne Kauffman, the winner of the inaugural dash title at Miami Valley Raceway in 2014, is red-hot to begin the track’s second season with 10 wins in the first two nights.
Following a four-bagger on opening night (Friday) the red and white clad 36-year-old reinsman notched six triumphs on the Saturday night program, including a tally in the $15,500 Open Pace.
Kauffman guided Valentino to a gate-to-wire victory over Rockin Finish (Randy Tharps) and Firstclassallthway (Dan Noble) in the feature event. Rockstar Meadows owns the eight-year-old son of Rocknroll Hanover, who likely has stud duty in his not-to-distant future as a 29-time winner with $810,000 in earnings and a record of 1:49.3. In his five recent starts in the Dayton, Ohio area, under the tutelage of Brian Brown, Valentino has three wins and two seconds in the top class.
Miami Valley presents its first-ever matinee with a 3 p.m. post time on Sunday.
