Showing front-end ability for the first time since his maiden-breaking score last June, four-year-old Market Banker returned with authority during the session of qualifiers on Friday, Jan. 31 at Woodbine Mohawk Park.
With regular pilot and Hall of Famer Chris Christoforou at the lines, Market Banker made every call a winning one in his first appearance since a runner-up finish in the Ontario Sired Harvest Series final last November. Over a track rated good with a two-second variant, Market Banker muscled his way through fractions of :29.2, :59.2 and 1:28.1 before a geared-down 30-second final quarter to trip the timer 15 lengths to the good in a time of 1:58.1.
Camilla Christoforou of Campbellville co-owns the son of The Bank - Clover Market along with Dan Fisher of Cambridge, Marco Arbour of Ajax and Dr. Paul Fisher of Freelton, Ont. From 18 starts during his three-year-old season, Market Banker accrued $53,740 in earnings and took his 1:55.4 mark during a leg of the aforementioned Harvest Series.
