On January 25, Fraser Downs Racetrack and Casino hosted the sixth annual Harness the Hope fundraiser and assisted in raising $17,104 for breast cancer research.
The success of the event can be attributed to a number of live and silent auction donations made by community sponsors, the coveted Powder Puff Derby and proceeds from the charity blackjack tournament. A total of six female drivers participated in this year’s Powder Puff race and made their contribution through pledges.
“Fraser Downs is proud to support [the] Harness the Hope event as it provides us with an opportunity to make a difference by donating space, volunteer hours and financial support,” said John Yip, Assistant General Manager of Fraser Downs Racetrack and Casino.
Harness the Hope was coordinated by Nite of Hope, an organization that plans and executes the annual Nite of Hope gala dinner in support of Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation.
