Cry For Cash, a five-year old Bettors Delight gelding, out of the On The Road Again mare Tear Drop, won the $9,000 Open Handicap Pace in 1:58.4, to register his first win this season for owners Critelli, Switala, and Martin, at Buffalo Raceway Saturday night, January 30

An invader from Yonkers, Cry For Cash ($4.90) driven by trainer-driver Ron Beback, Jr., made a strong three-wide backside brush to pass tiring leaders en route to a 1-1/2 length victory over second place finishers Nifty Prescott and reinsman Ken Holliday. New York Prime (Tom Agosti) came in third.

“I got some really nice cover early in the race,” said Beback. “When I went three-wide down the backstretch, he really fired and took off. This is a really nice horse with some serious back class."

The $4,500 share of the winning purse put Cry For Cash’s seasons bankroll at $6,420, and $163,251 lifetime.

For the second night in a row, driver Kevin Cummings steered home four winners. Last year's Upstate New York Harness Writers Association Driver of the Year, scored with Oh Gee Whiz ($5.20), Patch Adams N ($6.00), Class Action Scoot ($3.70), and Preacher Preacher ($6.60).
