Trust The Artist converted a pocket trip into his third consecutive Open Pace victory on Saturday at Northlands Park

The five-year-old son of Real Artist – Abreachoftrust and driver Kelly Hoerdt tucked in behind Lilsharkshooter (Jeff Stone), who set the tempo with panels of :28.1, :57.3, and 1:27.1. As the field entered the stretch, Hoerdt tipped the favourite out and edged away with a :28-second final frame. The bay stopped the clock in 1:55.2, winning by one and a quarter lengths.
Lilsharkshooter stayed for second and Wrangle M (Jamie Gray) finished third.
The lion’s share of the $15,000 purse bumped Trust The Artist’s bankroll to $354,547. Hoerdt trains and owns the winner of 23 races with Blair Corbeil and Mike McAllister of Beaumont, Alta.
