Rossridge Tristar Triumphs In Mares Open

Rossridge Tristar converted from the pocket to take down pacesetter Red Star Hottie in the featured $13,000 Fillies & Mares Open Pace Saturday evening at Fraser Downs

The field of five was led by 2-5 popular choice Red Star Hottie (James Burke) through intervals of :27.3, :56.3 and 1:25.1 before Rossridge Tristar, with trainer-driver Barry Treen, pulled the pocket around the final turn and sprinted home for a career-best 1:54.3 triumph. The 4-1 second choice won by a length and a quarter over Red Star Hottie while Adorable Killean (David Hudon) came in third.

The six-year-old daughter of Mach Three-Stars Shine Down, who was owned by the late Niele Jiwan of Burnby, B.C., is now two-for-two since returning to Fraser and joining Treen’s stable. A winner of five races in 24 starts last year, Rossridge Tristar banked $32,268. Her 14th career win tonight lifted her bankroll to $194,003.
