A leading horse owner has pledged that he will purchase horses for 10 young harness racing enthusiasts free of charge.

An article by The Courier-Mail in Australia explains that Queensland’s Kevin Seymour has pledged to purchase a total of ten $15,000 horses for 10 aspiring harness drivers.

The report states that each youngster can pick out their horse and Seymour will buy it for them. The article goes on to explain that the drivers, who will take on the responsibility of training duties, will own the horses outright.

According to the article, there are some very minor conditions regarding the deal: The youngsters must dress to impress; and if the horse is sold, the funds from the transaction must be reinvested into the industry.

"The horses which they buy can be the first part of their financial planning,” Seymour was quoted as saying. “We are trying to look after these juniors – if we look after them now we will have something in the future. There are so many talented young ones around.”

Seymour went on to add that, "All they (the youngsters) need is a bit of nurturing. They don't get the encouragement they should."

Great idea. Would make a great story to follow thru the training and if the horse makes it to the races.
