Rays San Wires Up Preferred Foes

Trevor Henry wasted no time in grabbing the lead with Rays San in Monday’s $11,000 Preferred 2 at The Raceway at Western Fair District, and once the pacer grabbed the top spot it was game over for the rest of the field.

Rays San secured the lead from the rail and rolled the field through intervals of :29.2, :58.3 and 1:27.3 en route to the one-length decision over Thats The Life in 1:58.2. Draconian tagged along to nab a small share.

Sent off as the 4-5 choice in the six-horse affair, Rays San grabbed his first win of the season and the 14th time of his career. His share of the loot lifted his lifetime cash stash to $156,964.

Fans were also treated to a set of $7,000 Preferred 3 tilts on the Monday card, with Windsun Fireball and Calgary Seelster winning their respective assignments.

Windsun Fireball survived a first-over to take home top prize in the tilt for trotters. Trevor Henry teamed up with the Nelson White trainee who cleared to the lead shortly beyond the three-quarter pole and drew clear to win by 1-1/2 lengths over Winzel in 2:01.4. Bringing Sexy Back too home the show dough.

Sharon Pendleton of East Garafraxa, Ontario owns the five-year-old son of Thunder Road-Windsun Borgata who won for the first time this season. The 11-time winner has managed to assemble a 1-2-0 record in his first three starts of the year. The 11-time winner has banked $75,131 to dates,

The $7,000 Preferred 3 for pacers went to Calgary Seelster, who went to the front and didn’t look back for driver Lorne House. The Murray Preszcator pupil hammered out fractions of :28.1, :58.4 and 1:28.3 before kicking out a final quarter in :30 to win by 2-34 lengths over Stoney Durkin in 1:58.3. Leafs And Wings swept from last to finish a bang up third.

Preszcator of London, Ontario owns the six-year-old son of Modern Art-Cmon Mama Cass who is now 2-for-4 this season. The 17-time winner pushed his lifetime earnings in excess of $200,000 with the win.
