Four Starz Horndog Undefeated In Canada

Four Starz Horndog got up at the very last moment to whip the favoured Warrawee Koine by a narrow margin in the $38,000 Fillies & Mares Open Pace on Friday night and remain undefeated at Woodbine Racetrack

With O'Brien Award finalist A Ps Money Maker scratched sick, last week's Open winner Warrawee Koine (Jody Jamieson) was dubbed the popular choice in Friday's feature event. The defending champion took command past a speedy opening quarter of :26.4 ahead of Voelz Hanover (Mario Baillargeon), and proceeded to the half in :56.1 and three-quarters in 1:24.1.

Meanwhile, inside starter Four Starz Horndog and driver Sylvain Filion picked up cover after sitting fourth through the opening fractions. She followed Run On Luck (Mark MacDonald) around the final bend before kicking up a storm. The six-year-old Four Starzzz Shark-Four Starzzzz Pass mare unleashed a :26.4 final frame to get up for the victory in deep stretch. The winning time was 1:51.4. Warrawee Koine was followed by Voelz Hanover to round out the top three.

Four Starz Horndog has won all three of her starts at Woodbine since arriving in Canada late last year. The Richard Moreau trainee is owned by Sylvain Descheneaux and Gaston Bibeau of Sorel Tracy, and Eric Bibeau of Ste. Victoire-De-Sorel, Que. She has added $30,000 to her $268,717 bankroll this year.

Four Starz Horndog paid $19.10 to win as the 8-1 fifth choice in the six-horse field.
