With a strong first-over approach in the third race on Saturday night, Shay Seelster and driver Todd Ratchford pulled away from tempo-setting favourite Wickedly Devilish (Nick Steward) at the head of the lane for a 2:03 victory by just less than two lengths. Valerie Blue Chip (Samuel Fillion) completed the top trio.
Shay Seelster (Sunshine Beach - She Butterfly) is owned by Todd Ratchford, who recently handed the training duties on the four-year-old pacing mare over to his younger sister, Mary. The 19-year-old Caledonia, Ont. resident obtained her trainer's license earlier this month and picked up her first training win in her third start. Shay Seelster paid $5.10 to win as the second choice on the toteboard.
