How much do you know about O’Brien Award finalist Bob McClure? You know he was Canada’s dash-winning driver in 2016, but what do you know about the rising star off the track. Now, the Guelph Mercury wants to give you some of the background info on the 26-year-old via a quick question and answer session.

McClure, a resident of Elora, Ont., told the Guelph Mercury that he believes that co-finalist Sylvain Filion will capture the award for Canada’s driver of the year in 2016, but that just to be alongside the reinsman Saturday night at the O’Brien Awards is an honour in itself.

“If I was a betting man I’d put my money on him (Filion),” said McClure, in regard to his O’Brien Award chances. “He’s won a lot of big races. He comes from a family that’s been legends in the industry, so there is no shame in finishing second to him.”

In the ‘Q&A,’ McClure explained what his favourite alcoholic beverage is; what a night off is like in his world; and conveyed that he hopes that those in charge of guiding the racing industry into the future are working on some “significant changes.”
