Something went awry with Stonebridge Quest when she finished eighth in her 2017 debut at The Raceway at Western Fair District on January 11, but the classy campaigner bounced back to capture Friday’s $10,000 Fillies & Mares Preferred at the London half-miler.
Bob McClure wasted no time in hustling Stonebridge Quest to the position of command, and once she cleared she easily sliced her way through panels of :28.3, :59 and 1:27.4. She then used a :30.2 closing quarter to win by 1-1/2 lengths over Cant Stop in 1:58.1. Taking home third prize was Honor Roll.
Sent off as the 3-2 favourite in the group of seven, the five-year-old daughter of Camluck-Glacier Express registered the 13th win of her career while pushing her lifetime earnings to $196,160. The graduate of the Ontario Sires Stakes program is owned by breeder Angie Stiller of Arva, Ont. and Glenview Livestock Ltd of Wallenstein, Ont.
