Emerald Rihanna was the star of the show in $8,000 Preferred 3 Mares Handicap Pace on Wednesday, Jan. 27 as she romped to an open-length victory at The Raceway at Western Fair District.
Sent on a front-end mission by driver Nick Steward, 5-2 second choice Emerald Rihanna quickly established the lead from post five and carved out fractions of :28.2, :59.1 and 1:27.4 before drawing away from the field to win by nearly six lengths in 1:57.3. Cant Stop (Bob McClure) commenced a first over bid at the three-eighths mark and held on in the race for place over favourite Pinky Tuscadero (Mike Horner) and Goldies Mach (Alfie Carroll).
Emerald Rihanna has now won three of her four starts this year at The Raceway for owner/trainer Colonel Schneider Jr. of Arthur, Ont. Lifetime, the seven-year-old Lis Mara mare has earned 13 wins and $94,693 in purses.
