Scuola Hanover made every call a winning one in Wednesday's (Jan. 26) $25,000 Mares Open Handicap Pace at Dover Downs.
Art Stafford Jr. waited with Scuola Hanover as Shes Pukka N cleared for the early lead, but then pounced to take control at the end of a :27.1 first quarter. After rating a :56.1 half, the daughter of A Rocknroll Dance sped to three-quarters in 1:24.3 and then turned on the jets through a :26.3 last quarter, icing a 1:51.1 win and evading Shes Pukka by 1-3/4 lengths. Soho Burning Love A, who advanced uncovered from last up the backstretch, finished third as the 6-5 favourite.
Trainer Andrew Stafford co-owns Scuola Hanover, who paid $5.00 to win, with Art Stafford and Thomas Ireland. Art Stafford Jr. and Tim Tetrick each won three races on the card.
Thursday's (Jan. 27) $27,500 Blue Hen/Open Handicap Pace, carded as the 12th race on the program, features a rematch between Bo Mach and Caviart Eden, who were noses apart in last week's top pace. First post is 4:30 p.m.
