A field of 18 trotters is set to compete in the 2024 Prix d'Amérique on Sunday, Jan. 28 at Hippodrome Paris-Vincennes in France.

The €1,000,000 ($1.47 million CAD) Group 1 event, contested over a distance of 2,700 metres, features defending champion Hooker Berry and runner-up Ampia Mede Sm. Idao de Tillard is the likely favourite as he heads into the Prix d'Amérique on a six-race win streak that includes the Prix Ténor de Baune. Izoard Vedaquais is another top contender coming off a win in the Prix de Belgique qualifying leg.

Among the starters familiar to North American racing fans is the five-year-old Chapter Seven mare, Joviality S, a winner of $2 million and 20 of her 28 starts at two and three in North America, including the 2021 Breeders Crown. She will be driven by three-time Prix d'Amérique champion Björn Goop for trainer Sabine Kagebrant.

Vivid Wise As IT, who came to North America and conquered the 2023 Yonkers International Trot last September, will also line up behind the gate for the Prix d'Amérique. The 10-year-old son of Yankee Glide, who is trained by Alessandro Gocciadoro and will be driven by Matthieu Abrivard, has drawn post 18 outside of Joviality S.
