In addition to honouring Canada’s National Harness Racing Champions, Media Excellence winners and Outstanding Grooms there will be some additional accolades included on the evening’s program at the O’Brien Awards Black Tie Gala on Saturday, February 3.

Standardbred Canada will pay tribute to the legendary Somebeachsomewhere, and 2017 World Driving Champion, James MacDonald, with special video presentations during the evening.

Somebeachsomewhere, an icon in the Standardbred industry, was humanely euthanized at Mid-Atlantic Veterinary Center in Ringoes, New Jersey at roughly 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 14.

James MacDonald, Canada’s representative and winner of the 2017 World Driving Championship will also be feted with a special video presentation.
