It may have taken the four-year-old pacing mare Makindollarsnsense a little longer than most to get her racing career started, but now that she has she’s
virtually unbeatable.
The daughter of Astreos-Shame On You notched her sixth consecutive victory in Tuesday's opener at Western Fair Raceway for trainer-driver Greg Dustin and owners GYS H Versteegh of London and Ted Melchers of Komoka, Ont., who purchased her early last year.
Makindollarsnsense [$2.20] and Dustin advanced first over from fifth after a :29.1 opening quarter and cleared the lead at the half in 1:00.1. The heavy 1-9 favourite opened up multiple lengths on the field as she raced past the next marker of 1:29.4 and headed for home. Makindollarsnsense stopped the clock in 1:59.2 equalling her lifetime mark, which she set last Tuesday. Our Desire (Mike Whelan) finished three lengths behind in second and Satin Slayer (Scott Zeron) rounded out the top three.
Makindollarsnsense has only lost one race in her career, her very first pari-mutuel outing back in March of last year where she finished sixth. She won her next start, in early April and then was off for several months, resurfacing last month at Western Fair where she’s started to win once again with five straight victories since her return. Today's win helped push her earnings to $18,500.
