Lil Kim pulled a quick one on her entry mate Real Beauty as she popped the pocket entering the stretch and glided past the pacesetter for the win in the $15,000 Fillies & Mares Open Pace at Fraser Downs on Sunday

James Burke settled Lil Kim in behind Real Beauty (David McKellar) from Post 4 and followed her lead through panels of :27.3, :57.2 and 1:26.3. Using a :27-second final frame, the Little Steven – Denali Dot Com miss brushed up for the win in 1:54 by half a length. Adorable Killean (David Hudon) closed well for third.
The six-year-old Robert Merschback pupil, who finished second to Real Beauty last week, scored her first win of 2009 and 18th of her career. Lil Kim, a winner of $192,411, is owned by Robert Murphy of Surrey, B.C.
