Trot Insider has learned that longtime horseman Bill Core has passed away at the age of 95.

Bill was a trainer, owner and breeder of many horses over his career. He was known for his love of trotters and his gift for training them. Some of the horses that highlighted his career were his homebreds including Formal Jen, B Cor Tamara and B Cor Jenny. These mares were successful both on the track and as broodmares.

Core was once featured in the Canadian Sportsman Magazine in recognition of his accomplishments and contributions to the sport of harness racing. He continued to train young horses up into his eighties and his love for horses was passed down to his daughter, granddaughters and now to his great-granddaughters.

Please join Standardbred Canada in offering condolences to the friends and family of Bill Core.

Our sincere sympathy to the Core family on the passing of a true horseman, who was also one of the kindest, most honest people you could meet. His love of horses was matched by the love for his family. We have many lovely memories of the Cores.

To the Core Family

I had the pleasure of training Formal Jen for Bill which was an honour. Bill and his family were one of the nicest families I was lucky to know. My sincere sympathy goes out to The Core Family. May all the wonderful memories help you through this difficult time.
