Rocknroll Jewel, Dalhousie Dave and King Harvest won divisions of 'Claim To Fame' races for $30,000 claimers at Miami Valley Raceway on Sunday (January 22), propelling all three into the $35,500 championship leg along with six other foes next Sunday.
Rocknroll Jewel (Jason Brewer) proved best in the first $27,500 split, beating One Lucky Dragon (Greg Grismore) and Sparky Mark (Chris Page) in 1:51.4 over the five-eighths mile oval. Jeff Brewer trains the winner for Chris Choros.
Dalhousie Dave (Trace Tetrick) paced an identical 1:51.4 mile to top Account Rollover (Mike Oosting) and Rock Out (Tyler Smith). Howard Taylor and Thomas Lazzaro own the Brewer Adams trainee.
King Harvest (Simon Allard) dominated the final division in 1:52 over Jackson Wyatt (Jeremy Smith) and Caution Signs (John DeLong). Charlie Stewart conditions the seven-year-old son of Nuclear Breeze for Tessa Roland.
In order of their earnings in the two preliminary legs, the finalists will be: Dalhousie Dave, Rocknroll Jewel, King Harvest, first leg winners Cosmicpedia, Speed Trap and Sonofa Sizzle, Jackson Wyatt, One Lucky Dragon and Sir Mammo. First alternate is Account Rollover if any of the qualified finalists fails to enter.
