Twenty-seven of trainer Jamie Copley’s thirty-eight starters have managed to hit the board this season, and that has helped the Greely, Ontario horseman put together a staggering UTR of .529 to start the year
.
On Thursday evening at Rideau Carleton Raceway Copley helped bolster his totals by putting together a three-win performance. The hat trick gives him 15 wins already in the 2010 campaign.
Jonnie Skywalker (2:02.2) had the force on her side in Race 4, giving Copley his first winner on the 15-race program. Stephane Gendron mapped out the winning trip for the four-year-old daughter of Stormont Bronze. That trainer/driver duo also took the checkered flag with R M Shy (2:00.2) in Race 9.
They also made their way back to victory lane in the finale with Milliondollarjen (1:59.2) following her front-stepping score for owner Phonsie McEachern of Port Hood, Nova Scotia.
Copley enjoyed a career year in 2009 thanks to 85 wins and purse earnings in excess of $400,000. At this rate, the career winner of 190 races figures to smash the personal records he set last season.
