In 2020, sophomore trotting filly GP Dreamin (pictured above) made a splash in the Ontario Sires Stakes program after limited activity as a two-year-old. Now her full-sister looks to follow in those footsteps.

During the Saturday (Jan. 21) session of qualifiers at Woodbine Mohawk Park, Seniorita Solo got her sophomore season started in the right way with a solid performance. Driver Jody Jamieson positioned the trotting lass in the pocket behind temposetter Insaisissable (Sylvain Filion) through fractions of :30, :59.4 and 1:31.1 before right-lining the filly at the head of the lane. Seniorita Solo willingly trotted by, posting a :28.4 final panel to trip the timer in 2:00.1. Insaisissable was another four lengths back in second.

A daughter of Cornaro Dasolo - Fiorentina, Seniorita Solo is owned by Paul Polillo of Brantford, Ont. and Neil Oostrom of Napanee, Ont. Paul is the son of the breeder, the late Carolyn Polillo and the late Guy Polillo, who owned both the stallion and the broodmare before his passing in 2016. The story of Guy's desire to see this mating come to fruition was the subject of a TROT Magazine feature in August 2020.
