After having spent more than three weeks away from the racetrack, Trot Insider has caught up with driver Jody Jamieson. The Canadian record holder for single-season dash wins talked about where he has been for the past few weeks and what 2010 holds in store for him

.

The resident of Cambridge, Ont. hasn't driven since December 28, 2009. When he gets back into the racebike, Jamieson will be following up on a tremendous '09 campaign, one in which he reset the record for dash wins in a single season on Canadian soil (787).

"I was in the Dominican Republic from December 30 until January 6 and then went to Sorrento, Florida to spend time with my parents for two weeks," said Jamieson. "I'll be returning home on January 24 and might start driving on February 1 if I can get a drive."

After the frenetic pace in which Jamieson attacked the Canadian wins record in '09, it would be completely understandable if he were to scale back on his drives in 2010. Not including schoolers, qualifiers and farm/training centre trips, Jamieson drove in 3,322 pari-mutuel contests in 2009. With all that said, is Jamieson going to slow down in this calendar year? According to him, not a chance.

"I want to drive everywhere I can or everywhere that will have me," he told Trot Insider. "Flamboro and Woodbine for sure, and I'm still debating about going to Western Fair or Georgian Downs on Tuesdays."

Although his drive and desire will be on display in every dash, Jamieson told Trot Insider that the numbers game is not going to be what it is all about for him in 2010. Jamieson said that he is looking to pursue a goal which isn't necessarily assessed in numbers alone.

"I have no number goals, I really want to just be an 'in vogue' driver in the U.S. and Canada and maybe Europe," he said. "I'm going to Finland to race for a week in April. More details will follow on that down the road."
