Alberta has landed a new pacing stallion for the 2021 season as the regally-bred Captain Deo has made his way to Western Canada.
The six-year-old son of Somebeachsomewhere and Worldly Beauty, who went 12-for-53, banked over $180,000 and earned a race record of 1:50.2 at The Meadowlands, will stand for an introductory service fee of $1,750 at Olds College in Olds, Alta.
"I think it's everybody's dream to have a Somebeachsomewhere, and with his pedigree, I think he's going to do well out west," new owner Al Neurauter told Trot Insider. "He'll cross with everything out here. I don't think there's been a better bred horse out west, so hopefully, fingers crossed, he'll prove himself."
Captain Deo will be the only son of Somebeachsomewhere to stand in the province, and he’ll do so with plenty of influence coming from the maternal side of his pedigree as well.
Captain Deo's dam, Worldly Beauty, was a multiple award-winning performer who banked over $2.1 million thanks to victories in many of the major events in her division at ages two, three and four. She’s a full sister to Worldly Treasure, making Captain Deo a full brother in blood to the multi-talented Captaintreacherous ($3.1 million, 1:47.1).
"I've always been a big Captaintreacherous fan," Neurauter added of the Pennsylvania-based stallion. "I thought if you go back right through his family, you can't go too wrong."
