The sport’s leading driver, Corey Callahan, piloted On The Cusp to her second win in-a-row stepping up and besting six foes to win Monday’s $20,000 Mares Open Pace at Dover Downs.
Callahan, whose streak of three consecutive four-win days at the track came to an end on a day when he only drove two winners, steered On The Cusp to a 1:53.1 success in the week’s female feature pace. Cooking The Books came storming down the lane with Allan Davis to finish second. Jeremes Sweetheart cut out the pace for Ron Pearce and held on in the four-horse finish for third.
Rene Allard and Kapildeo Singh own the seven-year-old daughter of Camluck-Headline Hanover who registered her 20th lifetime victory. She has now earned $270,970 in purses.
