It has been reported that Saratoga Springs Mayor Joanne Yepsen has been listening to concerns from local businesses regarding the size of the proposed expansion at the Saratoga Casino and Raceway.

An article by The Saratogian has quoted Mayor Yepsen as saying that there has “been direct conversations between me and (casino) management.”

The mayor went on to say, “Lots of us all are involved in conversations, hoping that the design is not final.”

According to the article, Mayor Yepsen has acknowledged that there have been discussion regarding the possibility of limiting the size of the expansion.

Officials from Saratoga Casino And Raceway announced their plans for a $30-million expansion last May. Among other things, the proposed expansion plans included a 120-room hotel with guest spa, indoor pool and lobby bar, a 24,000 sq. ft. multi-purpose event centre, and a signature fine dining restaurant.

The raceway has also stated last May that the expansion will occur whether or not full-scale casino gambling legislation is approved.
