Gary Pretlow, chairman of the New York Assembly’s Racing and Wagering Committee, is going head-to-head against powerful New York Senator Charles Schumer on the issue of the Wisconsin Stockbridge-Munsee band of Indians

.

Pretlow is asking fellow Assembly members to sign a letter he plans to send to new governor Andrew Cuomo, asking him to do something about the compact signed by Cuomo’s predecessor, former governor David Paterson.

Patterson's compact granted the Wisconsin Stockbridge-Munsee band 333 Catskill acres for a casino in turn for dropping land claims to 23,000 acres.

Schumer supports Patterson's plan.
