Brawn Seelster continued his dominance on Tuesday at Kawartha Downs when he disposed of
seven rivals to take the $16,500 Preferred Trot for his fifth straight victory.
With Post 3 in this afternoon’s contest, trainer/driver Callie Rankin dropped into third with the seven-year-old Berndt Hanover gelding, tracking soon-to-be double millionaire trotter Abbey Road C (Keith Jones) and Zorgwijk Fortunate (Fred Brethour) to a quarter in :29.
Rankin moved Brawn Seelster to the outside lane coming in front of the grandstand the first time around and he seized command from Abbey Road C strides after the 1:00.2 half flashed up. Widening to two-lengths at the 1:29.2 third marker, Brawn Seelster coasted to the wire and won by an easy length and a quarter in 2:00.1.
Norway No Day (Sylvain Filion) made a strong late rally to grab second over Abbey Road C.
Registering his fifth win in as many starts, Brawn Seelster has shown versatility by winning at four different tracks – Western Fair for two and Georgian, Flamboro and Kawartha for one.
Rankin co-owns the ‘B’ Track specialist with partner Jeff Goreski. Perfect in two starts this season, ‘Brawn’ has banked $14,750. Now a 35-time winner lifetime, he boasts earnings of $373,740.
