After missing by just a neck last time out, Timberline Court turned the tables on defending Open champ Trust The Artist during Saturday's harness racing card at Northlands Park as he held off that foe to win this week's $9,900 top class.
Edmonton trainer-driver Gerry Hudon sent Timberline Court from fourth to first after the :28.3 opening panel and led the way to the half in :57 and three-quarters in 1:25.4 before holding off the pocket-pulling Trust The Artist (Brandon Campbell) down the lane. He won by half a length in 1:55 flat over the 'good' surface. Longshot Sixdaysontheroad (Bill Tainsh Jr.) finished one and a half lengths behind in third.
Timberline Court, who has won seven of his last nine Open starts, paid $2.80 to win as the 2-5 favourite.
The eight-year-old With Held gelding hit the board 22 times (11 wins) in 30 starts last season. His Saturday score was his 33rd lifetime and pushed his bankroll to $345,179.
With the win, Timberline Court completed a sweep of this week's Open events for co-owners Hudon and R. Lynn Kowalevsky of Airdrie. The connections also celebrated a victory in the Mares Open on Friday with Big Bang Theory.
Stablemates Mr Brightside ($5.40) and Justabitfaster ($9) also won their respective Saturday assignments for Team Hudon.
