Favourite Caliban Hanover delivered on his pari-mutuel promise in the $1,500 Open Trot at Charlottetown Driving Park on Saturday afternoon.
Trained and driven by Ronnie Gass, Caliban Hanover ($4.20) worked his way to the lead during the first quarter and never looked back en route to the 2:03.1 triumph over the 'good' surface rated one second off. Zip The Lip and J K Queen rounded out the top three finishers.
The eight-year-old Andover Hall gelding has racked up 33 wins in his career while banking over $72,000 in purses for owner Wendell Macdonald of Cornwall, P.E.I. The win was his first this season following a third-place effort in the Open two weeks ago.
