Mild temperatures and rain caused deteriorating track conditions on Saturday (Jan. 18), forcing Woodbine Mohawk Park to cancel after race three, but not before So Much More etched her name into the record books, becoming the richest Maritime foaled standardbred of all-time with her third place effort.
Leaving from post three, So Much More and driver Tyler Borth landed in the fourth spot as 7-5 favourite Blue Pacific (Bob McClure) raced to an early lead through a quarter of :28. Blue Pacific was a loose leader on the backstretch, pacing 2-1/4 lengths clear to the half in :55.3. So Much More began her second-over rally from fourth on the far turn as Blue Pacific rocketed to three-quarters alone on the lead in 1:23.4.
Turning for home, Blue Pacific was not to be caught on the lead, coasting home to score by 2-1/2 lengths over Glenboro (Travis Cullen) in 1:52.4. So Much More rallied in the final strides to get by Century Jamila (Doug McNair) for the third position to reach her milestone.
The three-time O'Brien Award winner pushed her career to $1,732,187 with the show effort, surpassing P H Supercam ($1,731,002) as the richest Maritime foaled standardbred in history. Don Beatson trains and co-owns the now nine-year-old daughter of Big Jim-Ladysai along with Kenneth Beatson and Cole England.
As for the race winner, Blue Pacific has won back-to-back and three of her last four since joining the Dave Menary barn at the end of 2025. Owned by Seelster Farms, the stakes-winning four-year-old daughter of Sweet Lou-Miss Jones has won seven of 25 for her career, banking $360,837.
Racing returns to Mohawk on Monday, Jan. 20, with the 10-race card slated to get underway at 6:30 p.m.
