Sweeping off cover in the final turn, 12-1 shot All Out Henry prevailed in the $8,500 Dale Baker Memorial for Preferred 3 trotters on Friday night (January 18) at The Raceway at Western Fair District.
After a win in this class on January 2, even-money favourite Sicario fired off the gate from the outside post seven and raced three-wide into the turn as Yoooukilis held the early advantage with All Out Henry in between. All Out Henry tucked into the pocket spot while Sicario trotted on to take over command before the :29.2 quarter mark.
After a second quarter breather to the half in 1:00.3, Sicario was confronted by first-over attacker Scene A Magician, who put a neck in front down the backstretch. Sicario fought back to regain the lead briefly as they raced by the 1:29.3 third quarter mark, but he was headed again as Scene A Magician pressed on.
Meanwhile, All Out Henry had moved second-over and he launched his attack in the final turn to ultimately land in the winner's circle. With Scott Young in the bike, the seven-year-old son of Cornaro Dasolo powered home to prevail by three-quarters of a length in two-minute mile for owner/trainer Pam Forgie.
Sent postward as the second-longest shot on the board, All Out Henry returned $27 to win. Scene A Magician was second while Yoooukilis and On The Ridge finished ahead of Sicario.
The win was the first of the year for All Out Henry and his 17th lifetime, putting his bankroll at $127,769.
