Fraser's First Race Declared 'No Contest'

Fraser Downs' Sunday afternoon card got off to a rocky start as two drivers were injured during an accident in the opener.

As the first race began, Just Ryan broke stride and fell unseating driver Jim Marino and causing interference to This American Life, who was moving to his outside. This American Life's driver, Carl Sibiga, was tossed from his sulky during the collision.

The race was halted by the judges and declared a 'No Contest' as Just Ryan headed in the opposite direction of the racers. Both horses were eventually corralled by outrider Christa Byrd.

Marino and Sibiga booked off their remaining drives. Harness Racing B.C. officials stated that "both drivers did sustain some injuries and expected a full recovery."

Please join Standardbred Canada in wishing the drivers involved a speedy recovery.
