Announcer Idol Continues At Flamboro

Bob Cowan, Co-Host of CHCH's Morning Live, joined Flamboro Downs' Gary Guy in the announcer booth to call the third race on Sunday evening as the second edition of the track's Announcer Idol competition continued.

"If things go horribly wrong I'll just revert to the weather forecast," warned Cowan as the race began. "We have flurries and a low of -1...we're in trouble already," he joked before announcing Windsun Wildcat had taken the early lead.

Windsun Katie then moved around that rival past the opening quarter and faced first over pressure from Jadkyn Millie.

Down the stretch as Windsun Wildcat shot through in the passing lane, Cowan exclaimed, "I can't stand this excitement!"

Windsun Wildcat prevailed in 2:01 over Windsun Katie and Jadkyn Millie. The 5-2 second choice paid $7.10 to win.

Martin Lachance trains the four-year-old Mach Three mare, who earned her second career victory, for owner J. Warren Casely of Beeton, Ont. The win was the first of three on the card for driver Bob McClure.

Announcer Idol continues every Sunday night through March 22 before fan voting begins. The local media personality who receives the most votes for their race call will receive a donation to the charity of their choice.

Next week's guest announcer will be Mike Nabuurs, Morning Show Host on CKOC 1150.
