Billy Davis Jr. had an electric night on Tuesday, Jan. 16 at Northfield Park as the Canadian reinsman swept both mini-series finals en route to an astonishing seven-win performance.
Trainer Cory Kreiser grabbed five victories on the 15-race program himself, including a series final win with Up Helly AA in front-stepping fashion. Davis piloted all five of Kreiser’s winners and teamed up with Scott Linville for his other two victories.
Davis got off to a hot start by taking down the early double with Quik And Shady ($5) for Linville and Kandy Sweet ($3.60) for Kreiser.
Davis and Kreiser went on to earn three straight mid-card victories. Mcthirsty ($3.80) rallied from last at the top of the stretch, Parole Violation ($2.60) led most of the way in his barn debut, and the win machine, Winner Is Coming ($3), went first-up to score by more than four.
Davis capped off his night by sweeping the $30,000 mini-series finals with the aforementioned Up Helly AA ($9.40) for Kreiser and a hard-fought victory with Linville trainee Pocket Of Terror A ($13).
Live harness racing resumes on Wednesday evening with another pair of mini-series finals. The featured events of the evening carry a purse of $23,333 and go as races 12 and 13.
