Just a single victory was needed by driver Rod Therres in order to achieve the 1,000-win milestone going into Monday’s card of racing at Fraser Downs, and the veteran horseman scooped up the victory in just his second assignment on the program.

Therres potted the memorable score with Hurried Romance - a distaffer he owns and trains – in Monday evening’s fourth race.

The daughter of Dragon Again-Shes Just Rockin was hustled to the lead from post four by Therres who cut out fractions of :28, 1:00 and 1:30.1 with the mare before using a :30.1 closing panel to seal the deal by 3-1/4 lengths over Yjuliahos in 2:00.2. Race favourite Riverrunsnappy was third.

Two races later, Therres was back to victory lane thanks to a 2:00.1 score with Hurried Romance's stablemate, Helter Skelter. He completed the training triple in the very next event by guiding Bay Street Buddy to a half-length decision in 1:58.4.

The Langley, B.C., horseman has racked up more than $5.2 million in earnings with the horses he has sat behind in a career that rolls back to the late 80s. More than 800 of his wins have come with horses from his own barn.
