The trip was tough and the finish was tight for Lucky Terror in Monday’s $12,000 Preferred #2, but the end result was perfect for the Shaun McDonald trainee
. The five-year-old son of Western Terror-Miracle Luck shrugged off a first-over journey to take home top prize in the Fraserville feature in a time of 1:54.4.
Jonathan Drury got away third with Lucky Terror, who watched Cigar Hall sprint to the quarter pole in :27.4. Duke Did It, who was parked in the early going, muscled to the lead and hit the half in :55.3. Drury had Lucky Terror out and driving at the mid-way point, and they showed a short lead – though parked – at the three-quarter pole in 1:24.4. A :30-second final quarter was just enough for Lucky Terror to prevail by a neck over Pacific Warrior, with third prize going to Willies Place.
Sent off as the 3-2 second choice in the wagering, Lucky Terror won for the 11th time in his career and for the first time this season. The five-year-old son of Western Terror-Miracle Luck, who has banked $121,268 to date, is owned by Glenview Livestock Ltd of Wallenstein, ON.
