Betting Restored In Northern Ontario

Sudbury Downs has announced that an agreement was signed today with the Northern Horsemen’s Association (NHA) that will pave the way for the re-opening of all Champions Off Track Teletheatre sites throughout Northern Ontario

The Sudbury sites are located at Sudbury Downs, Champions on Falconbridge Highway and Grumblers on Regent Street. There are also Teletheatres in Thunder Bay, Sault Ste Marie, Timmins, North Bay and Parry Sound.

“The Sudbury Downs site will open on Saturday, January 16th at 12:15 but all other sites will not get open until Monday, January 18th”. stated Paul Le Drew, manager of the Champions Northern Teletheatre Network. Le Drew said, “The permits are in have been issued and it is now just a matter of getting all related staff in place.”

Teletheatres, which allow patrons to watch and wager on the very best thoroughbred and harness racing in the world, ceased operations on January 1st, 2010. Le Drew said, “We did not have a contract with our horsepeople as of the start of the year, which is a requirement by the Canadian Pari-Mutuel Agency. We now have that allowing for the re-opening of our Teletheatres (CPMA)”.
