According to a report on leadernewspapers.net, construction started this week on the Meadowlands Rail Station. The stop, which is expected to be up and running by June of this year, is being dubbed as an integral part of a $150 million overall transportation project.
The station will service the massive Meadowlands Xanadu project scheduled to open, the IZOD Center, Meadowlands Racetrack and the future home of the New York Jets and Giants, which is expected to open in 2010.
“We were charged with designing a new rail transportation facility, which terminates the new two-mile-long track system that spurs off the Pascack Valley Line,” Kurt Vieheilig, project manager and senior designer for DMR Architects, was quoted as saying. “It’s surprisingly simple and efficient.”
