A former harness racing judge has been awarded a six-figure settlement after winning a lawsuit claiming he had been wrongfully fired

.

On Thursday, a Delaware Superior Court jury sided with Don Harmon in his suit against the state and the Delaware Harness Racing Commission. In 2003, Harmon was fired from his position after it was alleged he altered a horse's line from making a break to an interference break, allowing the horse to race instead of disqualifying it.

Harmon was subsequently cleared of all charges but not reinstated by the state. He now works as a part-time judge at Harrah's Chester.

According to the Delaware News Journal, state officials indicated they would motion for a new trial.
