The announcement came through on Wednesday that Don Amos was nominated as the new president of the Ontario Harness Horse Association
.
In speaking with Amos, who is a District 5 OHHA Director, the nomination was not expected.
"I was surprised by the nomination to be President of OHHA as I had no intention of this when I agreed to be a director," Amos told Trot Insider. "Many of the directors respected my philosophy, ideas and experience and consequently I agreed to be the member's President."
Amos had previously worked for Magna International since 1984 in various capacities. Most recently he was the executive vice president and chief operating officer for Magna Entertainment and its racing operations - a position from which he retired in October 2006.
