Bruce Murray, WEG vice president of Standardbred Racing, and John Walzak, OHHA chief operating officer, have both made comments
to The Guelph Mercury regarding the lack of discussions in the dispute between the two organizations.
"We're not talking right now, but we want to get back to the table. That's our hope -- we'll keep pushing," said Walzak. The story quotes Murray, referring to negotiations going forward, as saying, "at the present there isn't anything planned."
Walzak also commented on OHHA's practice of defending those in the horse racing industry that find themselves suspended due to serious positive tests. "That's one of the things we do," Walzak said, adding the organization represents its member through thick and thin.
"We feel we have created a mechanism that resolves issues before they get to a higher court," the article quotes Murray as saying. "We want a partner that is going to be on the same page as us."
